Mikaela and Joel – Pittsburgh Wedding Reception

Mikaela and Joel got married at Pittsburgh Mennonite Church, and hosted their reception at the Union Project, a beautiful old church with stunning stained glass. Mikaela asked her cousin to photograph the wedding, but wanted her cousin to be able to relax after the ceremony so she asked me to photograph the reception.

This was an awesome reception! One of my favorite details was the blessing tree which doubled as a guest book. I also loved the vintage books they had stacked on each table to add height to the candles. But the highlight of the evening was definitely the sparkler exit! It was a beautiful night and I think sparkler exits are my new favorite thing. I could photograph those all night long!

One of the most memorable events of the evening were the toasts. While going through the pictures I realized my favorite part of capturing each speech was seeing the bride and groom’s reaction to the funny, embarrassing, or heart-warming stories being told. These next two sets of images show each toast and a few reactions.
